Court-Appointed Neutrals: A Practical Discussion with One of the Best

Presented by Deborah E. Greenspan

Join AMA and the Austin and San Antonio Bar Associations' ADR Sections for the opportunity to learn about a part of Alternative Dispute Resolution that often gets overlooked: the Special Master, or court-approved neutral. Our guest, Deborah E. Greenspan served as the Deputy Special Master for the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund as well as the Special Master for the Flint, Michigan contaminated water claims. Ms. Greenspan is on the Board of the Academy of Court-Appointed Masters.

We will have an informal discussion with Ms. Greenspan about:  (1) What does a special master do? (2) What has been her experience in such high profile cases? and (3) How does one become a special master?

Ms. Greenspan has a unique skill set about creating compensation systems for multiple victims and will share her insights about working with mass claims and how some lessons translate into all types of resolution mechanisms.
