Membership in Austin Mediators Association is on a calendar-year basis. New member dues received before October 1 entitle you to membership for the remainder of the current calendar year; dues received after October 1 entitle you to membership for the remainder of the current year and the entire following calendar year.

There are three ways for non-members to join:

  1. Apply & Pay Online: You may complete your entire Membership Application and payment online using our website and PayPal payment portal. Begin with the Membership Application below and you will have an option to select your payment method later in the process.
  2. Apply Online & Pay by Mail: You may complete your Membership Application online and submit your payment via mail. Mail payments to the address on THIS page. Begin with the Membership Application below and you will have an option to select your payment method later in the process.
  3. Apply Offline and Pay by Mail or Online: You may complete the application offline. First, print the MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION form; then submit the completed form via mail with your check or submit the completed form via mail or email without payment and you will be sent instructions for paying via PayPal.

Regardless of which way you chose to apply, please send a copy of your 40-Hour Training Certificate to the address below, or send a scanned copy to membership@austinmediators.org. For Supporting Members, no certificate is required.

Membership Application

AMA QUALIFIED MEDIATOR REQUIREMENTS

  1. Education: The person must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or must have achieved equivalent experience approved by the Board of Directors.
  2. Mediation Training: The person must have successfully completed a 40-hour basic training course in dispute resolution techniques which satisfies the requirements of Section 154.052(a) of the Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code.

  3. Mediation Experience: The person must have accumulated a minimum of 24 hours of actual mediation experience as a mediator or co-mediator.
