Professional Background
Erich Birch is a neutral with over seventeen years experience in mediation, arbitration, facilitation, and other forms of alternate dispute resolution (ADR) processes. With his background and experience he is particularly helpful on matters involving technical, environmental, or regulatory issues. He currently practices environmental law with the Austin environmental and construction law firm of Birch, Becker & Moorman, LLP. His prior legal experience includes working as an attorney with state government at the Texas Water Commission, and prior to practicing law he was an engineer in the chemical industry. Erich has a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, and a Law degree from the University of Houston. He is a former Board Member of the Texas Association of Mediators, Past-Chair of the ADR Section of the State Bar of Texas, a panel member of the American Arbitration Association, and a Professional Engineer in Texas. He received his initial mediator training from the University of Texas Center for Public Policy Dispute Resolution. He currently serves on the State Bar Board of Directors.
