AAM Membership


AAM was incorporated in 1981 as the Austin Family Mediation Association. In recognition of the growing diversity in the field of mediation, in 1992 AFMA decided to expand its scope and became the Austin Associatin of Mediators.

    General Membership - open to anyone with an interest in mediation.

    Volunteer Membership - open to those who meed the following criteria:

    • 1) Bachelor’s degree OR letter of sponsorship from an experienced mediator and approval of the AAM Board of Directors
    • 2) Documentation of completion of the 40-Hour Basic Mediation Course

    Professional Membership - open to those who meed the following criteria:

    • 1) Bachelor’s degree OR letter of sponsorship from an experienced mediator and approval of the AAM Board of Directors
    • 2) Documentation of completion of the 40-Hour Basic Mediation Course
    • 3) A minimum of 24 hours of mediation experience

    Annual Membership Dues

    • General Membership: $40
    • Volunteer Membership: $40 **includes website listing
    • Professional Membership: $50 **includes website listing
