Professional Listing

The Professional Listing includes the names of AAM Members who have met the following criteria:

  1. Bachelor’s degree OR letter of sponsorship from an experienced mediator and approval of the AAM Board of Directors
  2. Documentation of completion of the 40 Hour Basic Mediation Course
  3. A minimum of 24 hours of mediation experience

Volunteer Listing

The Volunteer Listing includes the names of AAM Members who have met the following criteria:

  1. Bachelor’s degree OR letter of sponsorship from an experienced mediator and approval of the AAM Board of Directors
  2. Documentation of completion of the 40 Hour Basic Mediation Course

Why Use a Volunteer Mediator?
  1. Provides a cost-free opportunity to use the services of a trained mediator
  2. Provides a means for newly trained mediators to gain experience
  3. Provides an opportunity for experienced mediators to perform volunteer service

AAM was incorporated in 1981 as the Austin Family Mediation Association. In recognition of the growing diversity in the field of mediation, in 1992 AFMA decided to expand its scope and became the Austin Association of Mediators.
