Mediation in Community Disputes

There are times when neighbors or people in a community cannot work out their differences and end up in a dispute. Such disputes can be centered around:

  1. Barking dogs and other pet issues
  2. the way they keep their yard or don't keep their yard
  3. Fences
  4. Property boundary disputes
  5. Noise
  6. Youth/family disturbances
  7. Parking space problems
  8. Cross-cultural confrontations
  9. Renter/homeowner conflicts
  10. Safety and environmental concerns
  11. Landlord/ tenant Disputes

These types of disputes can be settled much more economically and with greater satisfaction many times in mediation. These mediations often allow the participants to get over their differences and maintain an ongoing relationship.

AAM was incorporated in 1981 as the Austin Family Mediation Association. In recognition of the growing diversity in the field of mediation, in 1992 AFMA decided to expand its scope and became the Austin Association of Mediators.
